Running a half marathon is impressive enough. Doing it under the midnight sun in the Arctic Circle is something else entirely.
The 2027 Midnight Sun Half Marathon takes place in Tromsø, known as the Arctic capital and located around 350km north of the Arctic Circle. In June, the city experiences the extraordinary midnight sun, meaning the summer night stays bright and the sun doesn’t set.
Surrounded by mountains, fjords, and Arctic landscapes, Tromsø makes for a race setting that is about as far removed from your average Sunday morning run as you can get.
The Mizuno Half Marathon is part of a wider festival of running, with the event bringing together thousands of international runners, volunteers and local supporters. The atmosphere is a huge part of the experience, with crowds lining the streets to encourage participants through Tromsø.
